Taking Care of Ourselves

Posted on: March 9, 2010

If you want your daughter to grow up strong and
and fearless, ready to take on her life with
confidence passion, it is important for you
to first show her that it can be done.
This may be very difficult for mothers to achieve
since of their ongoing struggle to balance their
personal life and their roles as spouse and parent.
It is very easy for women to sacrifice their own
needs for others until there is very little left
               but the caretaking of others.
Mothers may think that it is noble to take care of
every one else but themselves. However, I know all
too well, that this isn’t the case. Mothers who
overwork and over care for others, usually get
resentful and depressed. They may also get
               physically ill as well.
Mothers feel that they should master the art of
nourishing their daughter’s self-esteem in order
to help them live better and happier lives. And
as they are showing their daughters how to do this,
they will become aware that some of their needs
               are unmet.
This is a time when mothers can perhaps start
really taking care of themselves in more ways than
before. They should take time for themselves and be
open to just relaxing and taking care of themselves.
This will, in turn, help show their daughters that
               they should do the same.
Don’t expect your mother to do for herself what
you won’t do for yourself. If you want her to take
care of herself, feel good about herself, and
passionately pursue her interests, she must see you
being fully engaged in your own life. Your example
               will help her tremendously.
