Building a Comfortable Space ……

Posted on: April 19, 2010

Yesterday, I pondered on the importance
for mothers to create a comfortable haven at
home for her daughter, a place where she
               could relax and be herself.

Today I will ponder how mothers can help
her daughters build this comfortable space.
For one thing, adolescent girls need a space
of their own. This space should support,
nourish, and reflect her emerging identity.

It is important for your daughter to
choose the colour of paint for her room and
decorate her room as she needs to in order to
feel comfortable in her room. This has to
become her inner sanctum not YOUR inner
sanctum. It is essential that your daughter
use her space to refresh herself so that she
could face the world with much more
               responsibility and compassion.

Thus, it is important for your daughter to
create this room for herself.  In many ways,
her room will create boundaries for her. She
will feel much more in control of her
emotions, feelings, values and so on if she
could just relax and BE in her room.

By helping our daughter’s creating this
space, we are respect her and we are trying
to make her feel comfortable in her home.
The home is a place where she could refresh
her soul and mind. Her room will become
               the place where this happens.
