Irene's Secret Tips, Products, and Interviews Geared Towards Showing Adolescent Girls How to Thrive and Excel in Our Cultural Times!

Deadly Powers

Posted on: July 13, 2010

Is beauty the celebration of uniqueness or is it
conformity? That is one of the most important
questions that you could ask yourself as teenage
girls. Your answer will pave either your happiness or
           discontent with yourself.
Anorexic fashion models aside, the definition of
beauty in clothing, skin colour and hairstyle is slowly
becoming broader and more diverse. And this is a
good thing since conformity has ruled beauty for
           way to long.
Despite these new trends, I think we are still very
much seeped in the powers of beauty as conformity.
Adolescent girls all over Canada and the US try to
become like everyone else and to dress like everyone
else. Every high school has powerful cliques that
teenagers belong to in order to belong and to have
friends. And these are not ending or even lessening
as I notice when I visit high schools.
In fact, they may even be getting worse. Because
adolescents will do anything to belong and conform.
They will Tatoo and pierce their bodies. They will
smoke and take drugs, and they will partake in many
           other really dangerous activities.
I think it is important for teenagers to take a
very careful look at what they are conforming to
before it is too late. That way, they will be able to
start defining their own idea of beauty and making
           themselves unique.
