EMPOWERMENT MONDAYS

              Being Self-Confident

              Do you find it difficult to fend for yourself?
              Do you find that other kids and peers have the
              upper hand in situations? Do you ever feel like
              a doormat?

              If you do, believe me, you’re not alone. Most
              teens feel this way at one time or another.
              Despite how hard it is to cope with, it is harder
              to just feel good about yourself and to take
              pleasure in your own well being.

              Self-confidence is difficult to develop. We
              each live in environments that are not
              conducive to building self-confidence. Even our
              siblings can grate on our self-esteem. And this
              makes it hard for us to develop self-esteem in
              any kind of consistent manner.

              There are things that you could do to
              develop self-confidence.  These are as follows:

                Never allow anyone to put you down;
                Don’t allow others to tell you how to
                   think;
                Don’t allow others to be abusive towards
                   you;
                Always put yourself up on a pedestal;
                Never allow others to bully you without
                  telling them directly how you feel and
                  that you won’t tolerate it under any
                  circumstances;
                Assert your boundaries, either directly
                   or indirectly.

              In these ways, you will be asserting yourself.
              And this can go a long way towards building
              self-confidence.
