By Sarah Darer Littman

Sarah’s book is a wonderfully written book for teen girls about a girl who has to be a facility calledGolden Slopes to stop her bulimic tendencies. The book is a powerful portrayal of a girl who tries to shake bulimia. In the process, she learns a lot about herself and her family as well.

The book wonderfully illustrates the many faces of bulimia. Most bulimic adolescent girls have very low self-esteem and self-confidence. They just don’t feel that they measure up and they feel that everyone else is so much better than they are. This can create a lot of stress for them. It usually translates into some form of unhealthy behaviour such as smoking, drinking, drugs or bulimia or anorexia.

It is very important for adolescent girls to learn that they are great just as they are. They don’t need to compare themselves to anyone else. They just have to learn to accept themselves and to love themselves unconditionally. This book shows adolescent girls how to do just that.

The book also illustrates how hard it is to stop being bulimic and how to deal with the painful memories that led to the disease in the first place. I would recommend this book to any adolescent girl who is struggling with her self-image. After reading this book, she will realize that she is GREAT just as she is.
